Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans do "the hero thing" so well that I keep starting to believe that they're like their Marvel characters in real life, not just when they play Thor and Captain America. I've watched those movies so many times that I could probably act out the entire thing-with lines-all by myself.
For a few minutes let's forget that like 90% of girls are more interested in the villains...aka
Loki...aka-Tom Hiddleston, and pretend that they love Thor and the "the star-spangled man with a plan" Captain America. We can basically agree that everyone loves a hero. We watch the guys show up, fly around and save everyone, and then get the gorgeous girl at the end. And we wish we were the girl he gets. I do and you KNOW you do too.
These guys always seem to do the right thing, don't they? That's part of the reason that we find ourselves drawn to them. (Besides their incredible good looks) Movies don't usually end with the hero screwing up and causing hundreds of people to die, and they have the astonishing ability to make quick decisions flawlessly.
There's one thing that i've found that I don't like about these "men of perfection" though. And It's just that! They're to perfect! They tend to set my standards for a guy waaaayyy too high, and I find myself expecting to be saved by this gorgeous, muscular, "perfect 10" accompanied by dramatic music. If I think hard, i'm like "no, I don't really expect that," but it's kind of little-by-little forming layers of unrealistic expectations in my mind that I shouldn't have.
That's all I really had in mind to write about today...and it's something to think about. Do me a favor: keep this in mind the next time you watch Hercules, Man of Steel or The Avengers.
XO Charlotte
I loved this post. Superheros (and certain villains) are a weakness and definitely get my standards set very high up there. Not that it's bad to have high standards... just don't have the wrong kind of unrealistic standards.
